zune account sign-in problems

If you can't sign in either place, the service may be down or there may be a problem with your Windows Live ID. Try these steps to fix the problem.

Is the Zune Music + Video service up and running?

If you receive a message that says “Can’t connect to Zune, please try again later” when you’re signing in from Zune.net or from the Zune Music + Video software

  1. Visit http://zune.net/support.

  2. Look for the Service Alert status area on the Zune Support page.

  3. If you see a “Service Alert” message with an exclamation mark, it means that Zune Marketplace and other Zune services are temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Retype your Windows Live ID user name and password

Make sure that:

  • You type a complete email address. Windows Live IDs must include the "@" and the domain name.

  • The Caps Lock key isn’t selected.

  • You typed your password correctly and aren’t substituting characters that look similar, such as O and 0 (zero).

If you still can’t sign in, have your password sent to you. Visit accounts.live.com, click Forgot your password, and follow the steps to reset your password. If your account was banned for some reason, you can learn why it was banned and reset your password.

Note You can visit any Windows Live website or Windows Live sign-in page to complete this step.

Tip If you selected the check box next to Save my Password when you signed in, and if you then change your password, make sure that you now clear the check box next to Save my Password.

Activate your account when using a different domain

(If you’re using a Windows Live or MSN domain, skip this step.)

If you receive a message that says “your Windows Live ID is invalid, incorrect, or does not exist”, you need to confirm that your account is a valid Windows Live ID account.

Request a verification email

To request a new copy of the verification email

  1. Visit accounts.live.com and then sign in.

  2. Click Verify your email address.

  3. Click Send me verification email.

  4. Follow the instructions in the verification email.

Note An EASI Windows Live ID is a Windows Live ID that is created by using an email address from a domain other than Windows Live or MSN. For example, you can create a Windows Live ID by using an email address that contains yahoo.com or gmail.com. To avoid problems using a Windows Live service, confirm your EASI Windows Live ID before you sign in to any Windows Live service. If the confirmation email message does not appear in the Inbox, look in your Junk Mail folder. Sometimes mail is delivered to the Junk Mail folder instead of the Inbox.
