From time to time, you might need to update the software on your Zune player (its firmware) to get the latest improvements and new features.
To update your Zune player
On your computer, start the Zune software.
Make sure you have the current version of the Zune software installed on your computer by going to Settings, Software, General, then click Check for updates. You'll be prompted to update if you need to. Otherwise, click OK to close the confirmation that your software is current.
Connect your Zune player to a USB port on the back of your computer.
If a newer version of the Zune firmware is available, you'll see a notice to update your player. You can also manually check for new player updates by going to Settings, Device, Update.
If you are prompted to update your player, follow the on-screen instructions.
Important
If you are prompted to update your Zune player, do not disconnect it until the update is complete. The update might take several minutes. During this time, your Zune player might restart several times.
