If the Zune software on your player doesn’t update on its own, or you see an error message when you try manually updating the software on your Zune player, here are a few things to try to fix the problem.
Disconnect your player from your computer.
Make sure you’re running the latest version of the Zune software: Open the Zune software and click Settings, Software, General. Under Software updates, click Check for updates.
Follow the instructions to install any Zune software updates. Then restart your computer.
Reconnect your player to a USB port on the back of your computer using the USB cable. Don’t use a USB hub.
Restart your player.
Open the Zune software and go to Settings, Device, Update. Follow the instructions to install any player updates.
If you see one of these error codes on your player’s home screen as you’re updating
Error Code (80200049)
Error Code (80070422)
You may be able to fix this problem automatically.
Close your Zune software.
Click the Fix this problem link.
Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in this wizard.

Note If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD so that you can run it on the computer that has the problem.
After you run the Fix It solution and open the Zune software, your collection will automatically start to rebuild. This process may take anywhere from several minutes to an hour, depending on the size of your library.
If you see one of these error codes on your player’s home screen as you’re updating
Error Code C00D11A0
Error Code (8004500A)
Error Code C00D1249
Error Code (8000FFFF)
Disconnect your Zune player from your computer, and then reconnect it.
Try updating your player software again: Open the Zune software and go to Settings, Device, Update. Follow the instructions to install any player updates.
If you see Error Code C00D124F on your player’s home screen as you’re updating
Error code C00D124F appears if there isn’t enough space on your player for the update. To check to see how much space is available on your player in the Zune software
Connect your player to your computer, and click the player icon in the lower-left corner of the Zune software to open the Summary screen.
Check the Available space bar on the bottom of the screen to see how much free space is available. Delete some content, and then try the update again.
To delete selected content from your player
Connect your player to your computer and open the Zune software.
In the Zune software, click Device, and choose a category of content, such as Music.
Choose a media file (for example, a song) to delete from your player. Right-click it and choose Delete from (player name) from the drop-down menu. The item will be removed from your player the next time you sync.
To delete all content from your player
In the Zune software, click Settings, Device, Sync Options.
Under Device options, click Erase All Content, and confirm that you want to delete synced media.
Try updating your player software again: Open the Zune software and go to Settings, Device,Update. Follow the instructions to install any player updates.
If you see Error Code C00D1195 on your player’s home screen as you’re updating
This error code appears if there isn’t enough room on your computer to install the update where your user profile is stored. Free up some space using the Disk Cleanup tool in Windows, and try installing the update again.
