NewsCommon kicks off new artist interview series on Zune Marketplace

The Green Room video podcast series launches today to take music fans behind-the-scenes with their favorite artists

REDMOND, WA — October 9, 2008 — Zune Marketplace will now give consumers regular access to exclusive, backstage interviews with many of their favorite artists.  Launching today, The Green Room video podcast series will take consumers behind the scenes of some of this year’s hottest concerts with unique interviews with artists like Common, Oasis, T.I. and many others.  In the premier set of episodes, The Green Room crew sits down with Grammy award winning hip-hop icon and actor Common at the Showbox SoDo in Seattle.  Currently touring to promote his new album Universal Mind Control, Common talks to Zune about the artistic process of recording and performing as well as what it takes to balance a music and movie career.

Zune Marketplace will also offer the free, exclusive download premiere of Common’s new video “Universal Mind Control,” directed by Hype Williams and featuring Pharrell. These initiatives are part of a larger integrated marketing partnership between Common and Zune, which includes activities built around his current tour with N.E.R.D. as well as content on Zune Marketplace.

“Zune is another way for me to connect with my fans and offer them something they can’t get anywhere else,” said Common. “It’s awakened me to a new way of discovering music.”
