With Zune, you control exactly what syncs from your Zune digital media collection to your Zune player. You can set the Zune software to sync to your player all media of a particular type (all your music, for example), or you can select to have only the media you choose sync with your player. Use the following options to determine how Zune will sync to your player:
All: when selected, Zune will automatically sync all music in your collection with your player.
Items I choose: when selected, you drag items in your collection to the Zune icon to sync them with your player. Any changes you make to items in your collection will be mirrored on your Zune. When you delete something, for instance, it will be removed from your Zune as well as from your computer. If you want to keep things on your Zune that you've deleted from your computer, choose manual sync.
Manual sync: choose manual sync if you really want to micromanage your collection. Zune will not automatically sync any changes made to your collection with your player. You may want to select this option if you make frequent changes to your collection that you don't necessarily want added to, or removed from, your player. With manual sync, items you no longer want must be deleted from both your Zune player and from your collection.
The first time you sync, Zune will add all your music, videos, pictures, and apps to your Zune by default, provided there's enough space on your player. If not, you'll need to choose what to sync and what to leave off your player. If you don't want to load all your media, just adjust the sync settings to the way you want them before you connect your player.
When you decide what you want to sync, drag it from your collection to the player icon in the Zune software and sync starts immediately. You can choose a category such as an album or picture folder, or choose individual items like a song or a video.
When you sync a friend, you get their Zune Card. You'll be able to see all the playlists associated with the Zune Card and play the songs if they're in your collection. The content associated with each friend might take up 100 MB or more.
If no Zune player is connected, the media you choose to sync always applies to the Zune player that was connected most recently. If you want to sync with a specific player, hover and select the player icon in the Zune software and select a player from the list.
