customize your wireless appearance

While wireless is on, the wireless icon appears and your Zune broadcasts the name of your Zune to other online Zune devices. It can also broadcast some info about what you're listening to, depending on how you set your wireless presence.

If you set your presence to basic, other people can merely see that you're there. But if you set your presence to current song, other people will see what you you're playing on your Zune. For example:

  • If you're playing music, the title of the song is shown.
  • If you're playing a video, the title of the video is shown.
  • If you're looking at pictures, Zune reports that you're viewing pictures.
  • If you're playing the radio, the radio station is shown.
  • If you're playing a podcast, the title of the podcast is shown.

Set your wireless presence

  1. Select settings, wireless.
  2. Select presence to set either of these two options:

    • basic: broadcasts a generic online status, like "online" or "busy."
    • current song: broadcasts the name of the song or video you're playing, the radio station you're listening to, or "viewing pictures" if you're looking at pictures.
