Parents, it's easy to set up Zune Marketplace accounts for your children so that they can download music, create their own collections, and participate in the Social.
Family Settings in the Zune software allows you to restrict purchases and restrict access to explicit content in the Zune Marketplace.
If you sign up for Zune using a Windows Live ID that is associated with an Xbox LIVE or Games for Windows - LIVE account, Zune and Xbox LIVE will share Family Settings for explicit content and purchases.
For example, if you set Zune Family Settings to allow explicit content, that setting will apply to the associated Xbox LIVE account as well.
Choose the best options for your child from Family Settings:
Purchases: Choose whether you want your child to be able to make purchases with Microsoft Points or the credit card you have on file.
Explicit Content: Choose whether or not you want your child to have access to explicit content available through Zune Marketplace.
New Online Friends: Decide whether to let your child accept friend requests. This is available to children aged 13 to 17 only. Children 12 and younger are not allowed into the Social community.
Online Communications: Decide who can send messages to your child. This is available to children aged 13 to 17 only. Children 12 and younger are not allowed into the Social community.
Music Listening: Decide whether to let your child share favorite artists and songs played with the Zune community. This is available to children aged 13 to 17 only. Children 12 and younger are not allowed into the Social community.
Friends List: Decide who can see your child's friends list. This is available to children aged 13 to 17 only. Children 12 and younger are not allowed into the Social community.
To get started, create a child account now. If your child is 12 or younger, you will need to supply credit card information to verify your age.
Note You are responsible for any material to which an associated Zune child account gains or is denied access to as a result of your use of, or failure to use, Family Settings.
