Family Settings helps you, as a parent, ensure that in the Social your children will encounter only the content, people, and activities you deem appropriate.

First, create a child account. It is required that you create your child's account rather than letting your child create one.

You'll need two Windows Live ID accounts (e-mail accounts used to identify you): one for you and one for your child. You may already have one. You have a Windows Live ID if you have any of the following:

• A Hotmail account
• An MSN account
• An account at Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE, or Games for Windows Live

If you don't have a Windows Live ID, you can create one during sign-up. (You must have an e-mail account already. To set up a free Hotmail account, visit MSN Hotmail.)

1. In the Zune software, click Sign In (in the upper right). If you're already signed in with your own account, sign out first.
2. Click Create New Account.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to create a child account.
