The Zune dock charges your Zune while providing extra connection options for connecting to your computer, home stereo, TV, or Xbox 360 console to play music, pictures, videos, and podcasts.
If you have a wireless home network, use the dock to wirelessly sync your Zune with your computer.
The Zune Dock Pack includes:
- A dock with a USB cable and three removable adapter plates to accommodate any Zune model.
- An AC adapter to charge your Zune from a power outlet.

Before you dock your Zune, make sure you have the right adapter plate attached to the dock. The dock comes with the adapter plate for the Zune 4GB and Zune 8GB already in place.
- Hook your finger into the slot on the adapter plate and lift it out.

- Choose the adapter plate that's labeled for your model.
Labels are printed on the underside of each adapter plate. If you're not sure which model your Zune is, look on the back of the device for 4GB, 8GB, or 80GB. If the capacity isn't listed, you have the original Zune 30GB.
- Set the correct adapter plate into place. You may need to slide the connector left or right to accommodate the new adapter plate.
Caution
Connecting a device without an adapter plate—or with the wrong adapter plate—could damage the dock and your Zune.
Sync and charge your Zune
Once the adapter plate is in place, use the dock to sync and charge your Zune.
Note
The dock can operate without an AC adapter using battery power from your Zune. However, this uses a lot of battery power, especially if you are viewing pictures and video on your TV with a component video connection.
Sync and charge your Zune
- Connect the dock's USB cable to your computer.
- Place your Zune in the dock.
Charge with the ac adapter
- Connect the dock's USB cable to the AC adapter.
- Open the two-prong connector on the AC adapter, then plug it in to a power outlet.

- Place your Zune in the dock.
Connect your Zune to your stereo or TV
To play music on your home stereo, connect a Zune A/V output cable to the Zune dock and your stereo system. For details, see Play Music on Your Stereo.
To watch videos and pictures on your TV, connect a Zune A/V output cable to the Zune dock and your TV. For details, see View Pictures and Video on Your TV.
Video output is a feature of Zune 30GB and Zune 80GB only.
To listen to the radio when Zune is docked, connect your headphones to your Zune—they're the antenna! You can't connect headphones to the Zune 4GB or Zune 8GB when they're docked.
