delete items from your zune

When you delete an item from your collection, it's deleted from your Zune the next time you sync.

You can also choose items to delete from your Zune but keep in your collection. When you sync, these items are merely skipped. Even if you've selected to sync all your music (or pictures, or videos, or podcasts), skipped items won't sync again unless you drag them to the device icon.

Delete items from your Zune

  1. Connect your Zune to your computer.
  2. In the Zune software, click the device icon and then click a category to see what's on your player.
  3. Right-click the item you want to delete and select Delete from <player name>. The item is deleted from your Zune but remains in your collection. Zune won't sync it again unless you drag it to the device icon.

Delete Audiobooks

To delete an audiobook, use the same program that you used to download the audiobook (OverDrive or Audible) to delete it.

Delete duplicate songs in your collection:

  1. In Zune software, select Music, then Collection, and Songs.
  2. Hover over one of the column headers and right-click, then select Choose Columns.
  3. Select Duplicates to display and sort by that column.

Delete Games

Games can only be deleted from your player, not from your collection. On your Zune, select the game you want to delete, choose uninstall, and press the Zune Pad.

Erase your Zune

  1. Connect your Zune to your computer.
  2. In Zune software, click Settings,Device, Sync Options.
  3. Click Erase All Content.

This will erase everything on your Zune. Then you can reset your sync options and fill it up again the way you want it.

Remember, if your Zune is connected to your computer, sync starts as soon as you make a change in your collection.
