How does it work, this ingenious pad that brings joy and fulfillment to all who encounter it? It's really quite easy.
Go to the home screen on your Zune. Brush your thumb down the surface of the pad and lift off at the end. See the list scroll down? Brush your thumb back up and the list follows.
Now select music (highlight music and click the Zune Pad). Brush your thumb across the pad, left and right, and move through the music categories. You should be sensing a pattern at this point.
If you want to scroll through a list at a faster clip, brush repeatedly up or down, left or right, and the list flies by. To stop on something, just tap or click the pad. Then click to select it.
And if you're like, totally old school, you can even turn "touch" off. Just go to settings and select touch: off. The Zune Pad will function like a typical directional pad.

Scroll across categories like artists, genres, playlists, etc.
Move up or down the radio dial.
Move forward and back in a song, video, or podcast.
Click the left or right side of the pad
Step forward or back through categories.
Skip to the next/previous song.
Move forward or back 30 seconds in a song, video, or podcast.
