Here's how to add media that lives outside your computer to your Zune collection.

1. Make sure your external drive is connected to your computer and turned on.
2. In the Zune software, click Settings.
3. Click a media type, like Music, that you want Zune to monitor on your external hard drive.
4. Click Add Folder, then browse to your external hard drive and select the folder(s) you want to add.
5. Repeat steps three and four for each media type that you want to add.

For each media type that you add a folder for, only items of the same media type will be added. So if you have music and videos in the same folder and you want to add both to your collection, you’ll need to add that folder under both the Music and Video media types.
