Check here for solutions to some problems you might have with playlists.
The Zune software doesn't recognize my playlist
If your playlist is in a format that doesn't work with Zune, you won't be able to add it to your collection. Zune works with playlists in two formats: ZPL and M3U. For more, see Playlists.
Some songs are skipped when I play my playlist
Songs that are not found or that have been deleted from your collection in the Zune software are skipped when a playlist is played. To stop the skipping, you'll need to add valid copies of the songs to your collection.
If you got a song with your Zune Pass and your subscription expired or the song is no longer part of Zune Marketplace, that song will remain in the playlist (unless you remove it) but it won't play.
Sometimes a song itself remains part of the Marketplace but the audio file representing that song changes. In that case, you need to download the song again and you can delete the version you downloaded first.
I can't delete a playlist or songs in a playlist
If a playlist is in an area of your computer—a partition—that you don't have permission to access, you won't be able to delete that playlist or the songs in it.
For you to get access to the playlist, the person who has the permissions will have to give you access to the partition.
If a playlist is set to read-only, that'll also prevent you from deleting it or changing it. You need to turn off the read-only setting.
Turn off playlist read-only setting
- On your computer, go to My Music, Zune, Playlists.
- Right-click the playlist, and then clickProperties.
- Click the General tab, clear theRead-only check box, then click OK.
Why can't I add songs to my playlist?
It might be an autoplaylist. Autoplaylists are dynamic playlists that are governed by rules that you set, but they can't be modified manually. For more information, see autoplaylists.
To see your playlists, click the playlist icon in the lower-left corner of the Zune window.
In Zune software, how can I tell which playlists are already on my player?
Connect your player to your computer, then go to device and music. Click playlists.
I made an autoplaylist to collect all songs by my favorite artist, but some songs don't appear.
If the artist you're trying to collect happens to be a contributing artist but not the album artist—as on a soundtrack or compilation—the autoplaylist won't see it. When creating a new autoplaylist, you might want to try searching by composer. Also, you might want to double-check that the spelling of the album artist's name as you're entering it matches exactly the spelling as it would appear in Zune Marketplace. For example, spell out "R.E.M." instead of "rem."
To make absolutely certain that every song you want from a given artist is on your playlist, create a new playlist and add the songs manually.
